W32.Blaster.Worm & Trojan.Stealther.B

To repair the damage from theW32.Blaster.Worm & Trojan.Stealther.B do the following:

1.Click on the Novell Application Launcher, click "View" then click "Refresh". This will refresh the Novell Launcher.

2. Double Click on the "MS Security Patch MS-03-026" icon in the "Fixes & Utilities" folder. This will install the Security Patch from Microsoft and automatically reboot your PC.

3. After the reboot double click the "Fix MSBLAST" icon in the "Fixes & Utilities" folder. This will create a shortcut on your desktop called "FIX MSBLAST". Double click on the "FIX MSBLAST" icon on your desktop. This will run the removal tool. When complete the tool will display whether or not the worm was removed from your PC. If the removal tool reports the worm did not exist on your PC double click on the "Restart RPC Services" icon in the "Fixes & Utilities" folder. When prompted to reboot click "Yes".

4. If you are experiencing svchost.exe errors, MS Office application issues with cutting and pasting, or unable to move emails to folders etc, double click on the "Restart RPC Services" icon in the "Fixes & Utilities" folder. When prompted to reboot click "Yes".

5. Once you have completed the steps above make sure to update your Norton Antivirus Definitions.

Right click on the yellow shield near your system clock (usually at the bottom right hand corner of the screen) and click "Open Norton Antivirus..."
*NOTE: If the yellow shield has an ! "exclamation mark" in the center of it please call the NCS Helpdesk at 515-3110 for assistance with uninstalling and reinstalling the Norton Antivirus software.

You should now see the Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition box. Click on the "Live Update" button. You will then see a "LiveUpdate" window.

*NOTE: If you receive an error message that Live Update encountered errors while Live Updating, complete Step 4 above again and retry clicking on the Live Update button.

On the Live Update window click Next, then click finish. You will see a window where the virus definitions are updating.

Once you have successfully LiveUpdated close all Norton Antivirus windows and right click on the yellow shield near your system clock and click "Open Norton Antivirus..." In the "Virus Definition File" section you should see "Version:8/13/2003 rev. 9". If Norton did not successfully Live Update the virus definitions please call the NCS Helpdesk at 515-3110.

6. To check if your PC has the Stealther.B trojan click on the "Fix STEALTHER" icon in the "Fixes & Utilities" folder. This will automatically detect and remove the Stealther.B trojan from your PC. When complete, the tool will display whether or not the Trojan was removed from your PC. If the removal tool reports the worm did not exist on your PC click OK to exit.
